What to Consider When Selecting a Spray Scrubber for Acid and Alkaline Exhaust Gas Treatment

Acid and alkaline exhaust gases are often generated from chemical processes, surface treatment, laboratory exhaust, pickling, and related production operations. Spray scrubbers use circulating liquid to contact the gas, enabling absorption, neutralization, and washing.

When selecting a scrubber, the tower material should be determined according to gas acidity, alkalinity, and corrosiveness. Common materials include PP and stainless steel. Nozzle atomization, packing height, pump flow, and chemical control all affect treatment efficiency.

To prevent droplet carryover and downstream corrosion, demisting structures are usually installed at the outlet. During operation, circulating liquid concentration, nozzle blockage, and packing condition should be checked regularly to maintain gas-liquid contact efficiency.
